~The Presence of Europe in a Global Trend of Decarbonization – Lessons from Europe, leading role in energy transition~
Europe is leading the energy transition towards a decarbonized society driven by stringent regulations, with the EU-ETS (European Emissions Trading Scheme) at its core. However, clean technologies, envisioned as a key solution to decarbonization, face challenges including the requirement for large-scale development investments, rising costs, and the necessity for robust infrastructure, where the future outlook remains uncertain. In this lecture, Mr. Nakajima Manabu, Project Director, Energy Research Division, Research and Analysis Department, Japan Organization for Metals and Energy Security (JOGMEC), and Mr. Noda, Taichi, Director General, Business Strategy Department at JOGMEC, will explore the lessons Japan can learn from Europe’s energy transition and what measures companies and governments should take.
