Series: Industrial Sector Roadmap to Carbon Neutrality
~Efforts of European and Japanese Chemical industries~
Monday, February 27, 2023 17:00-18:30 Tokyo (9:00-10:30 Brussels)
(With English-Japanese Simultaneous Interpretation / Free event)
The EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation will host a webinar on the EU-Japan approach to carbon neutrality in the chemical industry, which is considered to be the second largest CO2 emitter after steel. Products manufactured by the chemical industry cover many fields, but a significant portion of raw materials are petroleum-derived, and the challenge is how to convert these to recycling-oriented materials. Meanwhile, energy sources used in manufacturing must also adopt substitution systems. From this perspective, relevant governmental agencies and industry experts of the EU and Japan will discuss about their efforts, challenges and future initiatives, and explore the possibilities for bilateral and regional industrial cooperation in the energy & chemical field.
