Space.Japan is created in FY2014 as a service with the aim to promote EU-Japan Cooperation in space-related industries and technologies both upstream and downstream with a focus on specific sub-sectors such as earth observation and global navigation satellite systems. It includes the organisation of seminars, workshops, partnering support mission and an information helpdesk addressed to industrial actors involved in Space, which can contribute to future industrial EU-Japan partnerships.

The EU-Japan Centre manages the "EU-Japan Technology Transfer Helpdesk", a service aimed at supporting EU and Japanese companies and individuals in their steps to search for and acquire technologies, to understand the mechanics of technology transfer as well as bridging the knowledge gap about current available technologies from both Japan and the EU. EU and Japanese companies (R&D and innovation departments), universities, research organisations and clusters are eligible to benefit from this support service.

Facilitating EU-Asia cooperation on satellite navigation
The GNSS.asia project, financed under the European Commission-funded 7th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development, has the objective to develop and implement GNSS industrial cooperation activities between the European Union and China, India, Japan, Republic of Korea and Taiwan focusing on the downstream sector (applications and receivers).
