Officials and experts from the EU and Japan met online from 6 to 8 June 2023 to discuss and exchange good practices in competition policy and enforcement.
The sessions focused on experiences and challenges related to digital evidence gathering and analysis, as well as on updates on the implementation of the Digital Markets Act (DMA) and a recent market study on mobile operating systems and app distribution markets conducted by the Japan Fair Trade Commission. Officials will also discuss the assessment of sustainability agreements in the EU and Japan as well as recent initiatives in merger control assessment.
The annual EU-Japan Competition Week is part of the Competition Cooperation project, a 5-year EU-funded programme offering technical cooperation to competition authorities in Asia. It provides a platform for exchanges between the European Commission Directorate-General for Competition and the Japan Fair Trade Commission. The objective is to exchange experiences and strengthen convergence in competition policy, to the benefit of citizens and businesses in both the EU and Asia.
