The Greek company operating in the Region of Western Macedonia, northwest Greece produces Greek organic mountain Tea (Sideritis Raeseri).
The mountain tea (Sideritis Raeseri) is a Greek endemic herb that grows naturally (self-seeded), beloved by Greeks since antiquity. The name “Sideritis” (Ironwort) derives from the Greek word of iron (See-thee-ros), because Sideritis was considered a great “remedy against trauma from iron weapons”, that is to say wounds of war in ancient times. The herbal infusion of “mountain tea” was advised to soldiers as a rejuvenating, regenerating aid to help them heal quicker and fuller.
Sideritis Raeseri is cultivated in mountainous areas, at an altitude of 750 meters, away from traffic or any kind of pollution. It is collected entirely by hand and the company does not use additives or dyes, while the drying is done in the traditional way, in the shade, in order to maintain its natural colour and aroma. The final product is organic, certified by Bio Hellas, the Hellenic Institute for Inspection of Organic Products.
The plant is recommended in tea as a beverage and is drunk hot or cold, alone or mixed with other herbs. It is anti-inflammatory, anticoagulant, antihypertensive, antispasmodic, antibacterial, sedative and antioxidant. It is also used to prevent anaemia and osteoporosis. In traditional medicine, the plant is used as a sedative, hypnotic, while it is indicated against the common cold and the treatment of indigestion (dyspepsia).
