Amendments to the Memorandum of Cooperation with the European Securities and Markets Authority

On 18 March, the Financial Services Agency (FSA) and the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) signed the amended Memorandum of Cooperation which was originally concluded on 2015.
This MoC intends to strengthen and facilitate supervisory cooperation and information exchange relating to Japanese CCPs that are recognised by ESMA under the European Market Infrastructure Regulation (“EMIR”). In accordance with the implementation of the revised EMIR (i.e. EMIR2.2), the amendments were made to reflect the relevant parts of the EMIR2.2 concerning the CCP supervisory cooperation.
