The Japanese transportation sector accounts for nearly 18% of the total emission amount of Japan’s economy. Even though the trend of reducing such level is uncontested, Japanese manufacturers are still commiting to quicken the pace of this transition even further. In 2020, the total amount of CO2 released in Japan was 1.04 billion tons, and 185 milions of them came from the automotive industry. Both the government and the industry are striving to implement new policies while increasing the degree of technological innovation.
