The Japanese electronics market is well-established and holds a global reputation for excellence and innovations, despite increasing challenges in terms of internationalization and shifting production and service trends.

Automation and the integration of robotic technology into industrial production have also been an integral part of Japan's postwar economic success.

Third largest electronics manufacturing industry in the world in 2019, Japan has seen his billings for semiconductor manufacturing equipment jump between 2019 and 2020. It will cettainly continue rising in 2021 due to the COVID pandemic.

The electronics sector is divided into three significant parts: Consumer Electronics, Industrial Electronics and Electronic Components & Devices.

The Consumer Electronics market is a challenging market to enter for SMEs from the EU as large Japanese manufacturers dominate it.

Communication Equipment sector is an attractive market for European SMEs. The reason for this is that due to globalization of the telecom industry, local infrastructure vendors have had difficulties in surviving.

In the last sector, Japanese companies have been relatively competitive.

Before investing, it is vital to building up a good understanding of the market as well as contacts with suitable partners.

Our webinar on the Electronics Sector in Japan look at the overall sector's trends and challenges and the key domestic and international players. It highlights the possible opportunities and how to go about a market entry for SMEs from the EU.
