What business opportunities does Japan’s B2B industrial market offer to EU SMEs?

Japan’s industrial drone market is rapidly evolving, driven by the need for innovation in sectors such as logistics, agriculture, and disaster management. Japan’s commercial drone market size was valued at approximately 385 billion yen in fiscal year (FY) 2023, and is projected to reach around 905 billion yen by FY 2028. The largest segment of the drone market is drone services, accounting for about 53% of the total market value.

For EU SMEs, this presents a unique window of opportunity. Japan’s regulatory framework, which promotes the integration of drones into critical industries, could align well with EU companies’ expertise in automation and advanced drone technologies.
