Despite the decline in 2020 due to COVID-19, the global photonics market has demonstrated remarkable resilience, maintaining stable growth over the past three years. In 2022, the global photonics market was valued at €865 billion. This figure is projected to increase to $1,200 billion by 2027.
In 2022, Japan and Europe's market shares were estimated at 15% and 11%, respectively. Regarding product types, Europe, in 2022, excelled particularly in optical components and photonics for industry and healthcare. In contrast, Japan demonstrated significant strength in displays, photovoltaic (PV) systems, and LED production.
