Standards

A standard is a measure, a norm, or a model used to evaluate goods or processes. Standards serve as good examples of a certain economic activity, and as such they aim to normalise on a nation-wide basis the execution of those tasks by simplifying the diversity of types, models, figures, dimensions, structures, quality, components, performance, durability or safeness of the products, and their methods of production. Industrial, agricultural or medical standards aim to improve the quality of mineral, agricultural, medical and industrial products, to increase general productivity of the economy and to streamline production. Standards also look at simplifying transactions, by making them fairer, and at rationalising the use of raw materials. According to the Japanese Standards Association, standards help improve technology and production efficiency and increase public welfare.
