This is the second round of the online training series “What you should know when exporting to Japan”. It briefs in 30 minutes on the latest information on export processes and procedures relating to EU exports to Japan. It also covers trade and administrative rules and regulations relevant to EU businesses which are new to exporting as well as those which carry out regular, on-going businesses with Japan.

Focus is given to small and medium sized EU enterprises (SMEs) and to those sectors which offer growing opportunities to EU exports to Japan, i.e., food and health sectors.

What are the Import Processes and Procedures at Japan Customs?

The import process at Japan Custom starts with lodging an import declaration, examining goods in light of laws and regulations, paying taxes and fees, and ends with an import permit for moving goods out from Custom Area.  The import formalities are mostly paperwork, import procedures are mostly computerized through AEO (Authorized Economic Operator) Program, and pre-authorized import operators mostly handle import process.

When exporting to and distributing EU products in Japan, EU exporters should understand import process and procedure at Japan Customs and effectively navigate EU products through Japan Customs in association with qualified Japanese trade partners.

The webinar targets EU small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)
