About Japan Cross-cultural workshop in Vilnius

“About Japan” Cross-cultural workshop in Vilnius on 27 April 2016, was organised by the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation and Vilnius Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts, in order to provide the support for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in Lithuania to enter the Japanese market.

The aim of the workshop, within Enterprise Europe Network framework, was to improve SMEs’ knowledge about cross-cultural issues when doing business in Japan and to help increase their capacities in communicating with potential business partners. During the workshop, the Centre had the opportunity to present its EC-funded support activities, including managerial training courses, matchmaking missions to Japan for clusters and SMEs, student placement programmes, and its information portal (www.eubusinessinjapan.eu) containing a lot of practical information on how to do business with Japan.

The Centre hopes that by attending this workshop SMEs from Lithuania took a small, but important step towards expanding into the Japanese market and developing a trusted business relationship with Japanese counterparts.

Feedback from participants:

“Workshop “About Japan” was especially useful. It is always relevant to access export capacities using the experience of specialists, who accumulated in depth knowledge on one or several foreign markets. In this case, information about such distant markets as Japan is hardly available, but the workshop has filled this niche perfectly. I think, that knowledge gained during the workshop will be useful when working with clients who are preparing to enter, beginning or already working in the Japanese market.”  - Darius Mockevičius, Director, UAB "Foris consulta“

“The workshop was really interesting. I am working with Japan for 8 years and it seems, that I understand their business culture quite well, although during the workshop I received concentrated knowledge with historical causality, which allowed not only to answer questions on what is Japanese business culture, but also why it is so.” - Sergej Grigorjev, Executive, Public organisation “Kultūrinės ir organizacinės idėjos”

“An informative workshop, which allowed to get acquainted with the Japanese culture, as far as possible within a few hours. Practical advices on product packaging and cultural subtleties in daily communication with partners in Japan were the most useful for me personally.”  - Austėja Malaiškienė, Managing Director, UAB Lemure (LOVELY HOME IDEA)
