About the Report
Japanese consumers are today demanding healthier and more natural beverages. They also want to experience new tastes and textures. Herbal and fruit flavours could be candidates for giving beverages more of naturalness with business opportunities for EU players. There should also be room for growth in the market of soft drinks that offer lower levels of sugar and calories.
Moreover, the European market for specialty coffee is growing. This segment is a small niche offering high quality and high value that also could appeal to Japanese consumers that are seeking unique taste profiles. Europe is an important market for certified coffee that also could be interesting for Japanese looking for such offerings.
The aim of this report is to assess the current status of the Japanese coffee, tea and soft drinks markets. The report is targeting EU-based small- and mid-sized companies (SMEs) that are producing coffee, tea and soft drinks and are seeking to enter the Japanese market or those aiming at strengthening their current positions in Japan. The intended audience for this report also includes other actors in the value chain, such as exporters, roasters and blenders.
